Just before I made this recording, my mother passed away, so for me it’s filled with all kinds of memories. We recorded it in Dolby surround, which was rare at the time. I also remember that those 3D ‘stareos’ had just gotten popular. I think I started to develop a more refined, cinematic writing style around this time. ‘Ride into Midnight,’ ‘Pool of Radiance’ and the title track are still some of my favorite/strongest work. This was also the first time I sang, which met with mixed reviews, although ‘Far, Far Away’ is still one my personal favorites. Can’t please everybody, I guess!
